All silver jewellery is likely to tarnish (oxidise) over time and when this happens it is best to clean silver with a soft silver polishing cloth. However, with a little bit of extra care and attention it is easy to keep it looking as good as new.
I recommend that you
- Store your jewellery in a soft lined box or pouch and keep pieces apart, so that they don’t rub together or tangle up.
- Try not to let your jewellery come into direct contact with chemicals including nail polish removers, perfume and hairspray, chlorine or salt water.
- Remove jewellery when doing household tasks such as gardening and cleaning and
- Try to remember to give your jewellery a wipe with a silver polishing cloth before storing it away from sunlight and heat in a jewellery box.
Natural tarnishing can also appear if jewellery is left unworn for periods of time so, above all, enjoy wearing it!
