Laura had been admiring my jewellery at the Devon Open Studios event and after discussing the importance of using ethical and upcycled materials, came back to see me with a silver and diamond pendant that was hardly ever worn. I was asked to incorporate the diamond into the gold centre of a Forget Me Not bangle and to use EcoSilver to make two more bangles that could be worn together as a pair but also alongside the floral feature bangle.
Completely hand fabricated, the Forget Me Not’s centre is a rich yellow 18 carat gold which perfectly sets off the brilliance of the diamond whilst gently entwined asymmetric wires give it a delicacy without being fragile.
The widest bangle has a subtle texture which creates a soft sparkle against the simplicity of the contrasting 18 carat gold bar. Finally the narrow square form wire bangle has been lightly hammered to pick up the texture of the original ring band.
Laura commissioned the pieces as a Christmas gift and did not peek until the big day but has since let me know that she loves them and has asked me to put together some ideas for a landmark birthday pendant to wear with her collection. Naturally, I am delighted to have been asked.
