Several years ago we were invited and took our first trip to the Scilly Isles. These earrings were made to celebrate our host’s 50th birthday. I tried to capture all that I found beautiful about our visit to St Martins – the crystal clear blue water and the contrastingly dramatic sea spray during wilder weather. The silver shells were cast from one of the cowries that I found whilst walking with my head down along the long sandy beaches.
The necklace is another interpretation using the shape and texture of a small piece of driftwood, water drops, and shells as inspiration. I like the depth that adding the rippled silver on top of the copper creates.
